Keith Woods Champions Goldwater Legacy Through SRP Support

Celebrating History and Heritage | Keith Woods Visits the Barry & Peggy Goldwater Foundation

Phoenix, AZ | Community Engagement, SRP Leadership, Cultural Preservation

During a recent visit, Keith Woods and his son Max Woods toured the new Barry & Peggy Goldwater Foundation Center. This state-of-the-art facility honors the life, legacy, and creative spirit of the late U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater.

The Goldwater Center promises to deliver a remarkable experience to visitors through immersive exhibits, curated photography, and access to rarely seen archival materials. While on site, Keith and Max had the privilege of meeting Alison Goldwater, granddaughter of Senator Goldwater. She graciously gifted them a signed copy of Photographs by Barry M. Goldwater — a stunning tribute to the Senator’s work behind the lens.

SRP’s Role in Preserving Arizona History

Last year, the Salt River Project Board of Directors, including Woods, voted to support the Goldwater Foundation’s initiative. Their goal was to digitally preserve and archive Senator Goldwater’s photo collection. These historical images capture decades of Arizona culture, landscapes, and political life.

Thanks to that support, the collection is now accessible at several key locations throughout the Phoenix metro area. Notably, these include the SRP History Center, the Heard Museum, and other public venues.

This partnership reflects SRP’s ongoing commitment to cultural preservation and community education. These are values that Woods continues to champion in his role on the Board.
